Harness the Power of Media

Make your time in the spotlight count.

Non-traditional media (social media, podcasts, blogs) is how many of us consume news these days, but mainstream media (television, radio, and print) is alive and well in many small-to-medium size markets, including Atlantic Canada.

At ON-Q Communications, we teach you how to navigate the ever-changing media landscape, cultivate relationships with members of the media, feel calm and in control during an interview, and get your message across to audiences efficiently and effectively.

Our Services

  • Media Training

Using media to share your message is arguably the most effective way of marketing your business, sharing your story, or bringing awareness to an issue. Learn what type of media is best-suited for you or your organization, how to land interviews, and equip yourself with the tools to put your best foot forward during an interview.

  • On-Air / Presentation Coaching

Whether you’re preparing for a television interview, or just want to step up your on-camera presence on social media, we’ll teach you how to make an impression on viewers by sounding and looking your best.

  • Emcee/Hosting Services

The right emcee or host can take your event to the next level. As an experienced broadcaster, Alyse Hand has hosted dozens of events, ceremonies, and fundraisers across Atlantic Canada. Find out how she can help you make your event entertaining and memorable.

Hi! I’m Alyse Hand. I’ve spent the past 16 years in broadcasting and communications, and have worked at some of the most-watched news outlets in the country. I’ve interviewed hundreds of people over the course of my career and I would often get asked if I had advice on how to successfully book interviews with media, ways to calm pre-interview nerves, and how to effectively share messages or information in the often short time allotted. I realized I could provide value to individuals, organizations, and businesses by sharing what I had learned in my career as a broadcaster.

Even if you’re a seasoned public speaker, media interviews can be daunting and pre on-camera nerves are normal. The unfortunate reality is those jitters can often get the best of us, and can impact how viewers perceive you and the message you want to get across.

Here’s the good news; there are ways to manage on-air anxiety so you appear confident and composed on screen and, most importantly, get your message across in a way that resonates with the audience.

Media training and on-air coaching can help increase profits for you or your organization, serve as a great team-building exercise, and advance your career. I teach people how to better understand the current media landscape, build relationships with members of the media, and look and sound your best when you’re in the spotlight.
